Hope you've had a great weekend and now a relaxing Sunday! I'm looking forward to spending my afternoon lounging by the lake with my family and baby cousins who are visiting for the week :)

Perfect. The work day can't end soon enough!

exciting news!!

My family went to eat dinner with my Nanny (that's what we call my Dad's mom) last week. We stopped by her house afterward to try to help her fit queen-sized box-springs in the back of her Expedition. You're probably thinking to yourself, "that ain't happenin'". You're right. It ain't. Once Nanny accepted her defeat, she started showing us the MASSIVE amounts of furniture that she inherited from a friend who passed a couple years ago. Nanny doesn't have a place to put everything, so guess what?! She decided to donate to the Bo-and-Lauren-are-broke-and-need-free-furniture-fund (if you're interested in donating, please E-mail me). We are walking away with these treasures: (not actual photos, they closely resemble the items Nanny is giving away)

2 beautiful leather arm chairs

Open-top China hutch (circa 1970s/80s)
Question time: would it be a crime to have the arm chairs reupholstered? I think the brown leather, although very clean and nice-looking, is a little too harsh for our house. Any DIY advice for this? I have a feeling paying a professional would make the project not worth it. Or would it? I love some of these fabrics for the project:

I think the first and third options are my favorites! How do you think they would look with this living room scheme?

The paint color is by Behr at Home Depot. I love the clean white panels and wainscoting against the blue for our walls. The pillows and slip covers are actually from Target; we are registered for the slip covers as well as the floor lamp and vases. So many options...I'm exhausted just thinking about it. I'll tackle my ideas for the hutch tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

the 7th day

This morning, Jenn (our pastor) talked about living simply. NOT any easy feat in our world. We put so much value in material things (myself included, obviously, see blog) and thinking that we "need" them to be happy.  She preached from Mathew 6. Simply put, all we need is Jesus, not stuff, it just creates stress.  If we value Him, he's going to take really good care of us, so you don't have to worry so much.

Hope you're having a nice, relaxing Sunday afternoon! Ahhhh, rest. Finally.

Rugs

I read somewhere out in blog-world that you should choose an area rug that you love before you select the paint colors for the walls.  I'd anticipated picking all of our paint colors first, but this new idea makes sense to me! Since I learned about the all-important-area-rug-selection, I've been searching for the perfect rug for our living room. If you ever look at interior design blogs, you've seen the Fallon rug:

(This comes in just about every color you could ever want!)

This rug has been in my top choices for the last few weeks, but I've just discovered on Caitlin Creer's design blog that the designer of the Fallon (Jill Rosenwald) has come out with some new designs! Perfect timing, Jill. Thank you. Here are my faves:

Aren't they beautiful? And affordable.

What is your favorite? Do you have a method to your home decorating madness?

Happy day-before-Friday everyone! It's almost the weekend....yeeeeehaw!

little tiger den

Our plan is to turn the bedroom on the first floor into an office. I think this would be great area for Bo and I to showcase our Clemson memorabilia that we've collected over the years! It's not the man-cave that Bo is dreaming of, but we'll probably wait to build that until we build our own house that we'll stay in for a long time.

Here is what I've been brainstorming...

I love the patterned purple chair against the orange animal print rug! The black and white prints are from the Frame Shop in downtown Clemson. There is another that I love of CJ Spiller rubbing the rock. That must be added. Bo already has that helmet lamp! Check.

quote week catch-up

Preach.

dirty myrtle

Bo and I road-tripped up to Myrtle Beach for the night last weekend...and I've forgotten to post about it all week! For normal, mature adults, Medieval Times might not be that entertaining. Clearly, you haven't been there with my fiance. Listening him taunt the opposing knights (i.e. "the blue knight is on roids") was worth the 50 bucks. We also made a trip over to Broadway at the Beach, where we saw the larger-than-life hurricane mixer at Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville.

Here are a few pics of our fun weekend!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Living Room

Well, it's official. I'm addicted to Olioboard. My sister introduced me to this awesome site where you can browse, literally, millions of wallpapers, curtains, fabrics, lamps, etc. and create you own inspiration boards for your home! It's also the reason that I'm at work right now, running on 5 hours of sleep.

Check out my first creation! The living room in our town home will (hopefully) look something like this:

The navy/cream curtains are from Anthropologie. The chain-design cream/tan area rug is from West Elm (my new favorite for online shopping). The greyish-blue that I want to paint our walls is called Grey Wisp by Benjamin Moore (check out their site...great resource for paint color combos and making your colors flow well throughout your home!).

we. got. our. HOUSE!

I interrupt quote week for this important message: WE ARE APPROVED!

I've delayed posting any of my thoughts, ideas, favorite paint colors, etc. for fear that I would jinx the approval of our short sale! But, wait no more.

Let the decorating madness begin! Here are a few of my favorite inspirations...

As you can see, I'm a big fan of navy blue. We registered for Fiesta dinner ware in a dark navy and ivory, so we are going to use a lot of those colors in our kitchen and living room. I love the idea of having some coral/orange accents as well as some other shades of blue! That's all I can handle for now. I'm way too excited.

Happy Hump Day!
